Morning Worship:
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. (1Corinthians 1: 20-21)
We believe the consecutive reading of the Holy Scriptures, the joyful heart filled singing of hymns and the central focus of the expository preaching of God’s Word; All work in concert to compel sinners to come and humbles the heart of the believer to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is our earnest desire that God will make us to be a blessing to our kinsmen according to the flesh; here in Newark and the surrounding areas.
Sunday School:
Deuteronomy 4:10 …the day that thou stoodest before Jehovah thy God in Horeb, when Jehovah said unto me, Assemble me the people, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
The Bible calls us to learn and teach! While Jesus didn’t take attendance as children and adults gathered around him or call these gatherings “Sunday School”, his words and actions clearly express that learning, teaching and faithfulness are intertwined. Sunday School is a place for children, youth and adults to hear the Bible story and be reminded of our identity before God. It is a place for us to sense our belonging as God’s children and to grow in the knowledge of God’s love. It is a place where we discover and use our gifts as we learn how to be Christian disciples. Sunday School is a place where adult and child can be transformed and our understanding expanded concerning who God is and what He requires from us. “Come to me all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
